Mochi is a crowd favorite. Traditionally in East Asian countries, it is often made with mugwort (艾草, Ai), an important healing herb that warms the meridians and the uterus to treat dysmenorrhea, infertility, and to stabilize the fetus. Even though it plays a major role in women's health, men can absolutely also have it, especially those with a cold constitution.
Here is a reicipe for you to incorporate mugwort in this naturally gluten-free, vegan dessert!
Slowly pour the liquid mix to mochi flour and stir to combine.
In a microwavable bowl, cover with film and microwave for around 1.5-2 minutes. Stir the dough. And microwave again until you see the dough expands. You can also do this step in a steamer.
Use a spoon to mix the heated, cooked mochi to cool it down a bit.
Dust a surface with sufficient soybean powder or corn starch. Roll the mochi dough into smaller balls or any shape you prefer. Enjoy!
